Frequently Asked Questions

We know that purchasing a lift today is both a major decision and a significant investment. When you choose Olympic, we’ll ensure you have all the details and confidence you need before making your purchase.

What should I look for when choosing an automotive lift?

Consider the lift’s weight capacity, ceiling height requirements, power supply, and type of lift (2-post, 4-post, scissor, or portable). Also check the safety certification, included accessories, and warranty. Olympic lifts are designed with heavy-duty safety systems, extra-wide runways, and a 10-year warranty to give you confidence in your investment.

How do I know which type of lift is right for me?

It depends on how you plan to use it:

  • 2-Post Lifts: Great for service shops needing full under-car access.
  • 4-Post Lifts: Ideal for trucks, SUVs, and extra storage capacity.
  • Portable & Scissor Lifts: Perfect for smaller garages or limited space.
  • Clear floor vs. Baseplate Lifts: Both are 2-post designs. A Clear floor lift has overhead crossbars with hydraulic lines and cables routed above, leaving the floor open for easier movement of tools and creepers. A Baseplate lift runs cables and hydraulics along a plate on the ground, which works well in shops with lower ceiling height. The trade-off: Baseplate is more compact, Clear floor gives you more unobstructed workspace.

Our team can walk you through the best option based on your vehicles, ceiling height, and daily workflow.

What about shipping and delivery?

If the product is in stock, we usually ship it out within the same week. Once your order is processed, you’ll receive an invoice along with tracking information. We can ship directly to your door if you have a forklift available to unload at the delivery site. If not, we’ll send your order to a nearby freight dock at no extra cost, where the staff will load it onto your trailer for you. If you have question's about what we do and don't have in stock, please feel free to give us a call at 866-774-4531.

Power Requirements?

Most Olympic lifts run on a standard 220V single-phase power supply, though some models are available in 110V or three-phase configurations. Exact requirements vary by lift, including amperage and breaker size, so be sure to check the specifications on the product page. If you’re unsure, our team can help confirm whether your existing electrical setup will work or if you need to upgrade power units.

Concrete Requirements

For safe installation, Olympic lifts must be anchored into solid, level concrete. The typical requirement is a minimum of 4 inches of 3,000 PSI concrete, though some heavier-duty models may require 5–6 inches for maximum stability. The concrete should be free of cracks, and in good condition before installation. If you’re not sure whether your floor meets the requirements, we recommend having it evaluated before purchasing to ensure proper safety and performance. For portable 4-post lifts, you do not need to bolt it down, so concrete thickness doesn't matter.
