Best Car Lift for a Dually Truck

A dually lift must be selected from the truck’s actual working weight, axle weights, tire width, outside dual width, wheelbase and bay—not from the vehicle badge alone.

Start with the truck, not the lift

Record the year, cab, drivetrain, wheelbase, body or upfit, overall length, tire dimensions and outside dual-rear-wheel width. Weigh the truck in the condition it will normally be lifted and obtain separate front and rear axle weights. Towing capacity and GCWR are not lift-selection numbers.

Olympic models to evaluate

For compatible pickups within its rated capacity, the Olympic 4PXL-10 “Dually” is a 10,000 lb portable four-post model with adjustable runway spacing. Larger or loaded work trucks may require the 4PHDXL-12 or a 22,000 lb-and-higher Big-Rig model. Capacity alone does not establish fit.

Six measurements that matter

Actual total vehicle weight.
Front and rear axle weights.
Outside dual-tire width and individual tire width.
Wheelbase and tire contact position on the usable runway.
Overall vehicle length, rear overhang and approach clearance.
Bay width, clear height, door hardware, slab and electrical supply.

Four-post versus two-post

A four-post lift supports the tires and is often the practical starting point for dual-wheel trucks. Wheels-off service requires compatible bridge jacks with adequate axle capacity. A two-post lift can provide wheels-free access, but only when the vehicle has approved, reachable lift points and acceptable weight distribution for the exact arm configuration.

Before ordering

Send Olympic the scale ticket, axle weights, tire measurements, wheelbase, body/upfit details and garage dimensions.
